Job Description

As an Optical Design Engineer at NTS Optel, you will develop and design high-tech optical modules and systems for a variety of markets and applications. You will work closely with project managers, system architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams to translate customer requirements into feasible and innovative optical solutions. You will validate concepts and prototypes in our optical labs and contribute to projects ranging from smaller development activities to complex high-tech systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with customers, partners and suppliers while continuously developing your technical expertise.

Furthermore, your key responsibilities are:

• Developing and designing high-tech optical modules and systems for different markets and applications;

• Translating multidisciplinary customer requirements into realizable optical concepts and demonstrating their feasibility at an early stage through optical laboratory testing;

• Performing optical design and simulations, for example using ray-tracing and Zemax, as well as contributing to image and signal processing where required;

• Validating prototypes and supporting the development, installation and commissioning of optical systems at customer locations when required;

• Working closely with project managers, system architects, customers, partners and suppliers to understand challenges and develop effective solutions;

• Staying up to date with the latest developments in optical engineering and applying new technologies and approaches to your work;

• Working as part of a small, multidisciplinary team where you have the freedom to contribute your ideas, develop projects and grow your expertise.
  

Job Requirements

• A Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline;

• At least 2 years of experience in optical design and simulation, preferably using Zemax or similar tools, ideally within the high-tech systems or OEM environment;

• A background in mechatronics, opto-mechanics or machinery is a plus;

• A conceptual thinker with an eye for detail, who works in a creative, structured and pragmatic way;

• Strong analytical, communication and social skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and multidisciplinary teams;

• A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.

• Salary from €5500 to €6900;
