Job Description

As Laser Welding Specialist at NTS Singapore, you are responsible for setting up, operating, and programming laser welding robots to meet production requirements and optimize manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating with Engineering teams to develop and refine welding programs, improve tooling and jig designs, and ensure efficient and precise automated welding operations. The specialist also performs routine maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, and ensures safe working practices in a production environment.

Furthermore, your key responsibilities are:

  • Set up and operate the laser welding robot according to Work Orders and predefined programs

  • Develop programs and setup plans for the laser welding robot for both existing and new products

  • Edit tool and weld paths directly from the machine’s software

  • Advise and collaborate with Engineering/Work Preparation teams to optimize the production process

  • Participate closely in the design and fabrication of welding jigs and support re-engineering efforts to ensure product

  • suitability for laser welding automation

  • Perform daily maintenance on machines, fixtures, and tools

  • Report and call Maintenance/Technical Service for any equipment malfunctions

  • Ensure safe working practices for oneself and others

  • Perform all other related production tasks as required

  • Discuss work progress and program discrepancies with the Engineering department

  • Coordinate with colleagues regarding priority tasks

  • Create programs for the laser welding machine and welding robot using dedicated software

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Mechatronics) or equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the sheet metalworking industry (preferred)

  • Knowledge of robot operation and programming (KUKA/ABB preferred)

  • Knowledge of MIG, TIG, and laser welding processes (preferred)
